Sunrise and Sunset Times

Status: Acknowledged

Add a sunset time in the dropdown box.  It would also be nice to add a sunset + 1 Hr and sunrise - 1 Hr.  Now when we want lights to turn on when it gets dark, we don't have to modify the mode when the time changes.

Interesting Idea. It would require a feed with localized sunrise sunset data. I can pass your suggestion on to the HMC team.

home monitoring and control

How about providing the Administrator login and password for each model of camera. Since we have bought these devices and are not renting them shouldn't we have admin access?

Please, please consider.

Thanks,

Chris

I can see how complete access to the cameras might be useful. I will pass your idea on to the HMC Team.

Verizon listened, but only followed through half way. You can now name codes (pins), but when the email notification comes in, it is stilled labeled Pin 1, Pin 2, Pin 3 was accessed. Unless you can remember who you assigned the poins to makes it half done. Thanks for listening. - DB

Home Monitoring iPad app

The home monitoring app works somewhat OK on the iPhone but it is not great on the iPad.

A iPad capable app would be awesome.

iPad bug - When you go landscape on the camera view the screen locks and you can't go back to the menu.

For both I am constantly having to re-enter my pin. Would be good if you could make the timeout longer.

Also it would be cool if you could add notifications on the iPhone so we could save SMS messages.

Home Monitoring & Control, Water Sensor

FortrezZ Water & Temperature Sensor.  The system needs to allow the use of the FortrezZ Water and Temperature Sensor.  FortrezZ indicates the device is compatible with Verizon but Verizon chooses to block the device.  This is an important device in a home monitoring system.  I had 3 separate water incidents last year.  Verizon indicated to me the system does not support the device.  We know it can be done so please make it happen.

Verizon should use their own Forums

I found out today from a Verizon Supervisor about upgrades they made to Home Monitoring & Control. I asked how I was notified of those improvements. He said, unfortunately they don't have a mechanism for notifying customers. He said it's kind of like an Easter Egg Hunt, you have to discover them. I said why don't you post them on the Forum. He said, I never thought of that and no one had suggested it. He said they would start but I haven't seen anything to date.

True Home Monitoring and Control with Security and Central station Monitoring

I think Verizon could take some lessons if they want to sell their home monitoring and control. Verizon's system could be awesome. They have Cellular and FiOS. Just throw in a paired security system with it, and add the cost of third party monitoring at about $10 and they would have something.

If you had this to offer, it would have been a no brainier, and another chunk of money from me. But you would need a dedicated support staff to respond quickly to calls.

FrontPoint GE Simon XT V2 Security System Installed. It only took me about 30 min to set it up and I took my time. 100% Cellular. Wireless sensors. Zwave. I installed Lowes Iris Zwave system wall switches and dimmers(GE), because who wants a lamp that someone could leave off. Yes Even Lowes Home Improvement is pushing home automation. http://www.lowes.com/cd_Iris_239939199_

FrontPoint said they could not support the other vendors devices, but had no issues with spending time with me to set them up. It was a breeze considering they were also GE. Entry light comes on in foyer when I open my door. All lights on with an alarm activation. Interactive system with central monitoring.

Frontpoint Uses Alarm.com for remote access. Verizon has that built already. All you need is the interactive interface with a security panel, such as the Simon XT. Some vendors are doing just that, with a connection through broadband and or cellular. Depending on what the customer wants, and the level of security.

Weird'o @ the front door!

Status: Acknowledged
by 1133club on ‎03-19-2012 07:06 AM

All kinds of weirdo's are knocking on our door these days, some legitimate, many others just checking to see if anyone is home. If no answer they may find it easy to enter and burglarize. If you answer they use various identities like from the water company, the fire department there to inspect some fictitious non-existent problem. They use various reasons to distract you, or to convince you to go into another room to test a water faucet, light fixture, smoke alarm, or in our case to lure us outside and around back with some sort of property line clarification for a fence a neighbor was supposed to be installing. We unknowingly went out back but quickly got wise that the lure was to get us away from the front door so his accomplice could could enter our house while we were distracted. It didn't work this time, thankfully.

I would like a FIOS channel with big loud barking dogs where I, and others alone, seniors, etc. could switch to when anyone knocks on our front door. We could leave the channel on until we crack the door open a bit to identify who the person is. This idea would certainly scare the hell out of anyone knocking and provide a good sense of security for the home owner. I would put an extra speaker close to the door just to amplify the effect.

Let's do it Verizon!

Home Monitoring needs more support

Status: Acknowledged
by SuzieQueue on ‎04-15-2012 11:42 AM

I realize that Home Monitoring and Control is a relatively new offering from Verizon. In fact, when you call Verizon, it's not even on the list of voice prompts for why you might be calling. Right now, it is clearly a "do it yourself" product, but with its mass appeal, I think it really needs to come with more support from Verizon. When you open a new telephone, TV or internet account with Verizon, they send a technician out to your house, and often, it's for little more than just "turning on" the services for which the residence is already wired and equipped. But for this new, fairly complicated, multi-faceted product, which might soon be all the rage since surveillance cameras are now actively located practically anywhere human beings walk, how can you not have the option of having a sales and/or technical installation expert go to customers' homes to help them determine which devices are right for them and get them installed correctly? A lot of people who could benefit from this product simply wouldn't know where to begin when it comes to purchasing and installing it. You really should consider putting more manpower/sales & installation force behind it. (PS - sprinkler system manufacturers are now getting into the "remote control via mobile app" game. You might want to consider adding a sprinkler system control panel to the home monitoring package, too. That would be awesome.)

Suggestions for Verizon...

Status: Acknowledged

Services I would LOVE to see given to their Verizon Customers at NO Cost....

I would love to see a way of Blocking Companies or Anyone who uses that Automatic Dialing or Automated Messages. I get TONS to my Answering Machine... I screen All My Calls and I am so happy to see the Caller ID on My Television now... but now it's time to figure out a way to Block those Automated Calls. I don't even want them to get onto my answering machine to begin with.  I see these crazy long distance numbers on the caller ID so I don't answer.. then it's either a hang up or an automated message left on my machine. When I get so fed enough to answer the call... that is when I realize that what kind of call it is.. Automated Dialing...and Messages.

Home Monitoring Energy Reader

The energy reader should have more functionality. You should be able to enter the rates of your electric provider and be able to see

usage in dollars and cents. Like other energy readers on the market which provide this application. This allows you to estimate monthly billing.

Thank you for your suggestion. I'll make sure it gets shown to the proper team within Verizon.

Home Monitoring and Control Missing Features

Status: New Idea
by dmarciano on ‎10-25-2011 08:48 PM

So far I'm liking the home monitoring and control features.  However I find the android app lacking.  I think it should be able to do all the things the web-based interface could do; pan, tilt, turn on motion sensor, etc.  Also I think the cameras need to be used to their full potential.  The cameras I got have lights, a microphone, connection for external speakers, and zoom capabilities, but none of these features are available through the android app or web-based control panel.

Home Control Modes

Can you add a time to and from field, and or a duck to dawn field on the when triggered mode?  If I set my mode to turn on a light when I access my pin on my door lock, I don't need the light to come on at 330 in the afternoon when I get home from work in the summer.  Now in the winter, when I get home from work at 730 and it's dark out, then I would want the light to come on.  As it stands now, you can only have it come on every time you access your pin.

Reporting Violators of Florida's No Call List

Status: New Idea
by scots on ‎11-05-2011 01:20 PM

I just went online to get the number of a company that called so that I can report the violation to the State of Florida.  It occurred to me that it would be great if we could send the number and call information directly to the Division of Consumer Services from this website by putting a check by the number of the caller and having it automatically sent. to the Department.  The violations are getting more and more numerous.  This would make it easier to report a vioation.  Maybe it would also encourage customers to keep their landline since it is harder to solicit a cell phone which makes a cell phone for home service more desirable.

Home Monitoring Door Lock

It would be nice to see the door lock actually lock the door if you forget to. Having a feature to just let someone enter your house seems like a useless feature. How many times are you really going to need this. Knowing if the door is locked or unlocked is nice but doing something about it without having to drive back home would be a major improvement.
