There's no doubt we have our favorite subjects here at the Verizon at Home blog. And interactivity is one of them. That's why we devote every Wednesday to Widgets and find other opportunities to talk about how easy it is to connect with friends, shopping and information on FiOS TV.
Now, the Yankee Group's Vince Vittore is predicting that 2010 will be the year that interactive TV takes off. He says it will move from the experimental phase to a mass-market service. Contributing to this, he says, are factors like social networking, connected TVs and competition.
Not surprisingly, he points to Verizon FiOS TV's Widget Bazaar as an early example of interactive TV. Of course, FiOS TV Widgets have been widely available for a couple of years, and we're adding more all the time. So we already think of Widgets as a mass market service.
What do you think? Is Vince right about the increasing importance of interactivity? Is 2010 the year that other providers try to play catch up?
