Next week kicks off the biggest international soccer tournament in the world. It only comes around once every four years, so you’ll want to soak up all the coverage and game action you possibly can.  With Verizon FiOS TV, it’s easy to view the matches that will have the whole world talking while also being a part of the conversation.

FiOS TV’s Twitter and Facebook widgets let soccer fans interact and engage – right on the TV screen -- while viewing games. Follow the Twitter streams about the games, tweet about the big goal you just saw, or update your Facebook status to let your friends know you’re tuning into Johannesburg.

FiOS TV is also the only place where you can experience our new International Soccer Widget, similar to our NBA League Pass, Baseball and Pro Football widgets, which gives customers instant access to real-time scores, headline news, player reports, and more for your favorite international soccer team throughout the season.  You can find it on the FiOS TV Widgets home screen.

 

Plus, watching all of the matches gives you the perfect excuse to throw a party, especially for the championship game. Sign up to host an “Ultimate Battle Game Day” House Party for the championship match on July 11, sponsored by Verizon.  We supply each selected home with a party pack, including a Flip Ultra™ Camcorder so you can easily record the entertainment and reactions to the games. Fans who want more soccer programming can check out the Fox Soccer Plus package, the premium international sports channel featuring live, exclusive soccer matches from England’s Barclays Premier League, the UEFA Champions League, Italy’s Seria A and more – all for $14.99.  No need to pick up the phone to order; just click on the Soccer Widget and simply click on “order” using the remote control.

Since the big soccer tournament is just getting under way, the Barclays’ EUEFA and Seria A will all be on break until after the tournament.  But subscribers to the Fox Soccer Plus package will still gain access to unique on-screen alerts with real-time scoring updates for teams in top international leagues and competitions, including FIFA Cup alerts. Customers can set up an alert for the “Start of the Game,” “Start of the 2^nd Half,” “Goal Scored,” and “ End of Game,” so whether you’re watching the news or sports, the alert will pop up at the bottom of the screen.  Just press OK and jump to the live action.

It's awesome to see all the FIOS love for the World Cup.  Soccer widgets, house parties, and of course the best HD quality around.  This is going to be the best World Cup ever!

hey verizon, any updates on the youtube, radio, etc widgets for macs??  it makes verizon look less that honest that you have all this publicity and marketing about your widgets yet you leave out the part that you dont have them for macs....get my point???

of course, if verizon wireless got their crap together and would make a deal with jobs for an iphone on vw, all would be forgiven....

These widgets aren't for the computer, they're for your FiOS STB.  That way you don't need to have a computer on hand to look at youtube clips, or radio, or sports scores.  You can do it all straight from your TV at the speed of fiber!

these widgets run off your media manager, and currently the media manager does not support the youtube nor internet radio widgets when they are being fed from a mac....

The feature has been out for just over a month, it will make it down to the 5% of the world that uses Mac OS soon.  Until then just use a real computer or go to an Apple Store and buy Boot Camp like most Mac users.  If you need any help installing Windows or fun activities to pass the time until these features come to mac, feel free to ask for help dear.

Just for clarification...

For YouTube to be viewed on FiOS TV, Media Manager is required to be up an running on your PC. Additionally, we are  currently working on developing a Mac-compatible Media Manager.
