One of my colleagues on the PR team, Cliff Lee, submitted this blog on how “techknowledgeables” are viewing “TV” these days. Despite the name, Cliff’s not a Phillies fan and maintains an allegiance to the Yankees, even though he lives somewhere north -- way north -- of NYC.
So how do you watch TV and how would you like to watch TV? We recently posed that question to a number of youngWashington,D.C.consumers and got some interesting responses.
Most told us they prefer watching their favorite TV programming, movies or other video on several different devices, including smartphones, laptops and tablets. Oh, and many prefer it on demand.
It’s that borderless lifestyle thing we’ve been talking so much about. It’s about a generation of TV watchers, watching TV on something other than a TV. They want to download or stream their favorite programs, movies and videos wherever and whenever they want.
That’s why Verizon is tearing down the barriers between you and next generation, interactive services by offering Flex View and FiOS TV Online, two ways of extending our unmatched FiOS TV service beyond the apartment, condo or home to the Internet and a range of mobile devices. Of course, with FiOS Media Manager you can also use your TV to access personal photos, music and videos from your computer.
If you’re going to download or stream videos from the Web – legally, of course -- it helps to have an Internet service that provides unmatched speeds both downstream and upstream. That would be FiOS, which the FCC also concluded through testing, provides the most consistently reliable speeds even during those times in the day when it seems everyone is online. The agency also concluded through its extensive testing that FiOS regularly provides Verizon customers with more speed than they’re paying for.
So take a couple of minutes and watch what some of the folks in D.C. are saying about how they watch TV and then let us know how you watch TV.Better yet, tell us how you’d like to watch TV when you’re given a choice.
